Who We AreTeam Benson Becomes Friends-4-CuresA Legacy of Family and Friendship
“Team-Benson” is now formally FRIENDS-4-CURES. The mission of our organization is to sponsor and organize events whose proceeds go directly to cancer research, specifically testicular cancer. Benson and Friends-4-Cures’ are gratefully directing their time and energy to The Friends-4-Cures and Taft Enterprises Testis Cancer Research Fund Endowment at Indiana University Cancer Center. This endowment supports the testicular cancer research under the direction of Dr. Lawrence H. Einhorn. Dr. Einhorn is the internationally recognized expert in testicular cancer and oncology. This site, this endeavor and the organization FRIENDS-4-CURES speak to the essence of Benson Walker Campbell, IV. The warmth of this gentle man and his endearing sense of humor touch many people. The secure presence of a loving wife and son, his strong family background, and the close friends Benson grew from boyhood to manhood with have been his powerful allies. Family and lifelong friendships have energized and organized Friends-4-Cures. The love and spirit of the founding members of Friends-4-Cures is a credit to them and to the community of Henderson, Kentucky. We invite you to join hands with FRIENDS-4-CURES as we dedicate ourselves to supporting Dr. Lawrence H. Einhorn in his goal of making testicular cancer 100% curable! |

Benson Walker Campbell, IV learned that he had testicular cancer on October 11, 2002. The world turned upside down for 27 year-old Benson, his wife Danielle and their three-month-old son Walker. The devastating news of Benson’s cancer diagnosis rapidly reached his hometown of Henderson, Kentucky. Childhood friends, Pat Clements, Mike Clements and Jason Moore were quick to put up a website. The name of the website- TEAM-BENSON! Friends, family and community joined “Team Benson” and daily visited this ‘gathering place’ to post thoughts, prayers and encouragement for this likeable young man. “Team Benson” gathered momentum as Benson went through three months of rigorous chemotherapy followed by an extensive surgery. Benson’s optimism and strength re-energized each morning as he read the thoughtful messages. He gratefully points out “the love, prayers and support offered by my family, my friends and the Henderson community quickly evolved into my lifeline”.
